On
April 25, 2025, the
SCO Arbitration Legal Forum was held in
Urumqi, People’s Republic of China, bringing together leading experts and lawyers from SCO member states and Central Asia. The forum was organized by the
China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) with the support of the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Committee for the Promotion of International Trade of the PRC.
ERNST&PARTNERS is proud to announce the participation of
Managing Director Ernus Aslan Erikuly and
Senior Partner Bagadat Kabievich Nurbayev at this event. Our presence at such a prestigious international forum underscores the firm’s active role in fostering global legal cooperation, exchanging practical experience, and strengthening arbitration connections among SCO countries.
Previously, such problems had not occurred. However, after the road embankment was built and the terrain was altered, the increased flow of water affected private plots. As a result, foundations were damaged, cracks appeared in walls, and some buildings began to deteriorate.
The theme of the forum —
“Uniting Efforts for Arbitration Cooperation and Opening New Horizons in the Era of the Rule of Law” — reflected contemporary challenges in cross‑border justice, the importance of harmonizing arbitration procedures, and increasing trust in international arbitration institutions
During the event, key areas of development in international arbitration were discussed, including:
- mutual recognition of arbitration awards,
- ensuring their effective enforcement,
- enhancing procedural transparency and predictability
Special attention was given to the
role of arbitration in creating a
favorable investment climate and
legal stability in the region
For our firm, participation in this forum was not only an opportunity to establish contacts with colleagues from other countries but also an important contribution to strengthening the
international legal expertise of ERNST&PARTNERS.
We are confident that such events contribute to shaping a shared legal space, supporting the
principles of the rule of law, and developing effective mechanisms for resolving international commercial disputes.
